MSOAP is a national program funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health & Ageing, is administered by the NSW Rural Doctors Network (RDN) and Ageing and is coordinated by rural Divisions of General Practice. MSOAP provides funding to specialists for some of the costs associated with delivering outreach services (eg travel, accommodation and facilities). It also provides some resources for visiting specialists to deliver upskilling to local GP’s.
MSOAP specialist service(s) are developed in response to GP Needs Assessment Surveys & securing funds from RDN. Securing the Specialist is the most challenging aspect in the program.
