Psychology Services
The New England Division of General Practice provides Psychology services under two programs: Better Outcomes in Mental Health Care (BOiMHC) and Mental Health Services in Rural and Remote Areas through the centres of Armidale, Inverell, Glen Innes and Tenterfield. The aim of these programs is to improve community access to, and equity of, the provision of mental health care services. Both programs provide psychological services, in particular, evidence based Focussed Psychological Strategies (FPS) to appropriately referred patients cost free.
The GP must complete a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan (GPMHTP) including diagnosis and an assessment tool prior to referring their patients into these programs.

Aboriginal Health Workers
Aboriginal Health Workers (AHW) are located in Tenterfield and Inverell/Tingha
The role of the AHW is to assist GPs in more effectively servicing the local Aboriginal community with their mental health needs. The AHW works with the local community to help facilitate ease of access to GP appointments and other mental health services.
The AHW in each location also plays a role in community education.
Drought Community Support Worker
The New England Division of General Practice employs a Drought Community Support Worker based in Inverell covering the areas of Inverell, Glen Innes and Tenterfield. This role provides Crisis counselling to people in need as a direct consequence of drought conditions. It is also responsible for the raising of community awareness of mental health issues associated with hardships incurred in drought affected areas and for the provision of support, advice and education.
Mental Health Education
The New England Division of General Practice facilitates ongoing mental health education events regionally.
